It is a somewhat matured, but just as expressive Cœur de pirate making a return on Blonde. The musical evolution of Cœur de pirate is evident from the very first listen to this new CD. Reminiscent of Nancy Sinatra or Françoise Hardy, and drawing on the retro-chic of songs from the 1960s, this new CD is also firmly rooted in the present. Her new songs are less piano-driven, and demonstrate that, after three very busy years, she has managed, without losing the pop sensibilities that define her musical style, to achieve a keener, fuller sound.
