Admission: $10 (adults) $5 (students) (available at the door)

  • Kevin Breit - guitar
  • Matt Brubeck - cello

Stretch Orchestra (formerly the Tallboys) is an improvisational trio. An assembly of three highly sympathetic players, they represent the cream of improvising musicians who live in, near to, or maintain strong ties to Guelph.

Jesse writes: "The Stretch Orchestra consists of guitar wizard Kevin Breit (6’4”), cellist extraordinaire Matt Brubeck (6’8”), and me. In addition to being really tall, Kevin and Matt are really talented. Indeed, they are two of the finest musicians I know. Kevin has performed and/or recorded with Norah Jones, k.d. lang, Celine Dion, Cassandra Wilson, Bill Frisell, and many more. He has performed on 13 Grammy Award-winning recordings and multiple Juno winners. Cellist Matt Brubeck’s list of performing/recording credentials is similarly impressive and equally diverse: has worked with Tom Waits, Yo-Yo Ma, Sarah McLachlan, the Dixie Chicks, and his father, jazz legend Dave Brubeck, among many others.

"It is hard for me to describe the music of this group because there is nothing else quite like it (that I know of anyways). The music ranges from jazz to folk to rock to various world influences—sometimes within a single tune."
