Tuition: $395 before June 2, $420 from June 2 onwards. Accommodation/food charges are separate and range from $180 (camping) to $390.
Ottawa JazzWorks 21st annual Summer Jazz Workshop will be held at CAMMAC Music Centre in Quebec (north of Hawkesbury). This unique 3-day weekend jazz workshop is an intensive learning opportunity for adult jazz musicians of all levels, beginner through professional, and advanced high school musicians.
Participants immerse themselves in a program that includes combo rehearsals, master classes, individual and group coaching, jazz history, improvisation classes, arranging and composition, and jam sessions.
Faculty include John Geggie (artistic director, bass), Christine Duncan (vocals), Julie Michels (vocals), Kevin Barrett (guitar), Kim Ratcliffe (guitar), Garry Elliott (guitar), Jim Lewis (trumpet), Frank Lozano (saxophone), Rémi Bolduc (saxophone), Evan Cartwright (percussion), Nick Fraser (percussion), David Restivo (piano), Nancy Walker (piano), and Rob Frayne (composing and arranging).
JazzWorks also offers an optional two-day Composer's Symposium or Independent Practice option for two days before the workshop.
All will give a public concert on Sunday, August 24 at 12:30 p.m. at CAMMAC.
