A Very Ayler Christmas (IMOO #112) will be presented at the Raw Sugar Café on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at 7 p.m. The concert will feature Bernard Stepien - tenor sax, accordion,Jennifer Giles - keyboards, David Broscoe - saxophones, Scott Warren – drums, percussion, maybe even tape loops, Linsey Wellman - alto sax, bass clarinet

Bernard Stepien and his Orchestra will present A Very Ayler Christmas concert at l'Envers in Montreal on December 17 at 9 p.m., and at IMOO at Umi Café on Sunday December 18 at 7 p.m.  Earlier this month, OttawaJazzScene.ca's Brett Delmage caught up with Bernard at the group's rehearsal to ask him about the project. We subsequently recorded the concert at Mercury Lounge on December 13. Watch our video to learn more, see more and hear more! Combining tunes by Albert Ayler with traditional Christmas carols, it is both unusual and interesting music. But to really appreciate it and hear all the tunes fully you'll just have to hear it live, in person.

You may order the CD at Bernard's site
