Winter 2012 Ottawa Jazz Festival: Mike Tremblay & Mark Ferguson Quartet at the NAC Fourth Stage

Mike Tremblay and Mark Ferguson are two mainstays of the Ottawa jazz scene and Ottawa jazz education. Both have played for decades in local groups and with visiting artists, and both teach at Carleton University. Tremblay is the founder of the Ottawa Saxophone Camp and co-founder of the Carleton University Jazz Camp.

Tremblay's performance and recording credits include Natalie Cole, Josh Groban, Alanis Morissette,John Pizzarelli, Lou Rawls, Bob Newhart,and Bernadette Peters.  He frequently performs with the National Arts centre Orchestra as part of the CTV POPS series. Recently he has been touring theatres throughout Canada and the United States as part of  Holly Larocque and the Mark Ferguson orchestra.

Ferguson has performed with many of the world’s great artists including Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett, Gil Evans, Nelson Riddle, Dionne Warwick, Natalie Cole, Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdink, Rosemary Clooney, Carol Channing, Rob McConnell & the Boss Brass, Holly Cole, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, and the Funk Brothers of “Standing in the Shadow of Motown” fame, and the nine member world beat band Manteca.

In 2009, the two released a CD, Home, of duets that included original tunes and standards. It has enjoyed frequent radio airplay including on CBC's "Tonic" with Katie Malloch. They have been working on a new CD, which should be released shortly.
