Capital Vox, Ottawa’s Jazz Choir, salutes "Rhymin' Simon" - one of the most prolific, heralded, and beloved performer-songwriters of our time. A retrospective concert highlighting selections culled from four decades of Paul Simon's illustrious career, the programme spotlights both the poetic turn of his pen and his skillful use of a world of influences - promising a concert that is alternately moving and grooving. Featuring 24 voices accompanied by pianist Mark Ferguson, percussionist Juan Macias, violinist Laurissa Chitty, saxophonist Ueli Dorig, accordionist Elise Letourneau, bassist Mark Alcorn, and drummer Marilee Townsend-Alcorn. Elise Letourneau directs.

Capital Vox, now in its third season, has been heralded as Canada's first community jazz choir. It has also become an approved off-campus ensemble for credit for Carleton University music students. Established in February 2007, Capital Vox is based in Ottawa Canada. The jazz choir is comprised of 24 auditioned voices and is backed by a core three-piece rhythm section, and guest musicians. Capital Vox was formed to explore the works of classic jazz composers, as well as standards old and new, in a large group vocal setting. It also seeks to present music by Canadian jazz composers and expand the existing body of Canadian jazz choral repertoire; as well as recast traditional music in a new, jazzy light. The choir's music director, Elise Letourneau, creates custom arrangements for the choir to sing.
