And we have a winner! Congratulations to Catherine Radatus, and thanks to everyone who entered! Thanks to random.org for providing a random number for the draw.

OttawaJazzScene.ca has a new draw, exclusively for our fabulous JazzScene weekly newsletter subscribers. Not a subscriber yet? See below – it's easy to subscribe and be eligible to enter this and future draws.

Flamingo and The Craig Pedersen Quartet have generously donated a pair of tickets to their Friday night show and a copy of the Quartet's just-released, limited edition CD, Early Winter, to be won by a JazzScene subscriber.

The Quartet will play from 8:30 to 11:00 pm on Friday March 11 at Flamingo, 380 Elgin Street (at Gladstone). Flamingo identifies itself as "Ottawa's newest destination for the gay and fabulous!" Since opening on January 28, they have frequently presented jazz on many Friday nights, in an environment where they welcome gays and straights alike to enjoy excellent music.

"I want people to sit there and watch. It's not just background music," Flamingo producer Sebastien Provost told OttawaJazzScene.ca in our recent story about this new club.

Given Provost's approach, it's no surprise that The Craig Pedersen Quartet is playing this Friday. Craig Pedersen (trumpet) and his Quartet (Linsey Wellman - alto saxophone, Alex Mastronardi – bass, and Mike Essoudry – drums) are among Ottawa's most active and creative musicians. The Craig Pedersen Quartet engaged listeners week after week when they played at Café Nostalgica last November.

The draw for two tickets to hear them and receive a copy of their new CD is open now, until 11:59 PM (23:59) on Thursday, March 10. To enter, simply email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with your name, email address, phone number (if possible) and the correct  answer to our skill testing question:

What is the type of animal and and what is the color of ground that it walks on, that is portrayed in track 3 of  the new Early Winter CD?
The answers can be found at craigpedersenquartet.bandcamp.com

The winner will be notified by email after a random draw after midnight (very early Friday morning) and will also be listed in an update to the website announcement at OttawaJazzScene.ca. The winner simply has to identify him or herself at the door of Flamingo to be admitted. (Be sure to come early for the best seats.)

Good luck to all participants! And be sure to check out the Craig Pedersen Quartet at Flamingo on Friday night even if you don't win. The experience is sure to be a great start to your weekend.
