Pianist, keyboardist, composer and musical director, Julie Lamontagne has followed a fascinating career path and gained an exceptional amount of experience along the way. Possessing a solid classical background and winner of numerous awards (including a first prize at the prestigious Canadian Music Competition at the age of thirteen), she decided early on to explore other musical styles.
She released her first CD in 2005 Facing the truth, followed by Now What (Justin Time/EMI) where she invited a very special guest: New York saxophonist Donny McCaslin. Now What won the OPUS award 2010 (jazz creation of the year) and was nominated for the 2010 ADISQ (jazz creation album of the year). She is now preparing her next solo album to be released in 2012.
In addition to her jazz work, Julie Lamontagne regularly takes on a variety of other projects. She has performed with Isabelle Boulay, Nicole Martin, Natasha St-Pier, Marie-Élaine Thibert, Bruno Pelletier, Dan Bigras, Térez Montcalm, Nanette Workman, Gino Vannelli and Gildor Roy, just to name a few.
