The Parc-X Trio is an instrumental group focused on original jazz compositions. Founding members, Alex Lefaivre and Gabriel Vinuela-Pelletier met at University of Montreal during the course of their studies. The pair recruited drummer Mark Nelson (Fieldtrip) in 2008, with whom they recorded their first album, Parc-X Trio .

They won the TD Grand Prize at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal in 2010 and are currently working on the second album.

Alex and Gabriel live in Parc-Extension, a mostly immigrant neighborhood in Montreal that is defined by its fusion of many different cultures. This truly vibrant community has not only inspired the name of the band, but its whole musical direction as well. Parc-X trio’s main goal is to create an original soundtrack that reflects their love of this unique Montreal borough.

The trio has a wide range of influences such as the contemporary jazz sounds coming from New York and Europe as well as Classical, Pop and World music. Parc-X trio’s music hopes to reach a large audience by not only being original and cutting-edge, but by remaining authentic and accessible as well.
