- Jacques Kuba Séguin - trumpet
Jacques Kuba Séguin is a Montreal trumpeter originally from Poland, whose music is influenced by his Eastern-European origins. He's won several scholarships allowing him to study with Toronto jazz artists Kevin Dean and Pat Labarbera. Other teachers have included Montrealers Jocelyn Couture and Bill Mahar, and Americans Dave Douglas, Kenny Werner, and Chris Potter. He's been working as a professional musician for more than 12 years and has toured South Africa, the Seychelles, Haiti, and Switzerland, as well as the U.S. and Canada.
He has opened or worked for groups including the Afro-Cuban All-Stars, Morgan Heritage, Jean Leloup, Taken Jah Fakoly, Rene Simard, and Cirque du Soleil ("Délirium"). His own groups have included bassist Frédéric Alarie and violinist Adam Baldych.
