Tuition: $405 by June 6, $430 afterwards. Accommodation/food charges (which are necessary) are separate and range from $185 (camping) to $420.
Ottawa JazzWorks 22nd annual Summer Jazz Workshop will be held at CAMMAC Music Centre in Quebec (north of Hawkesbury). This unique 3-day weekend jazz workshop is an intensive learning opportunity for adult jazz musicians of all levels, beginner through professional, and advanced high school musicians.
Participants immerse themselves in a program that includes combo rehearsals, master classes, special workshops, the big jazz choir, origijnal composition combos, vocal intensive combo, improvisation classes, and jam sessions.
This year's faculty includes Artistic Director John Geggie, vocalists Sharada Banman, Christine Duncan and Alex Samaras, drummers Ethan Ardelli and Nick Fraser, piano players Dave Restivo and Nancy Walker, guitarists Kevin Barrett and Kim Ratcliffe, bassist Kieran Overs, trumpet player Jim Lewis, trombone player William Carn, woodwind specialist Rob Frayne, and saxophonists Rémi Bolduc and Frank Lozano.
JazzWorks also offers an optional two-day Composer's Symposium or Independent Practice option for two days before the workshop.
All will give a public concert on Sunday, August 23 at 12:30 p.m. at CAMMAC.
