It's the last week to support CKCU-FM's three jazz shows during the community radio station's annual funding drive.

CKCU currently has three long-running jazz shows:

  • Swing is in the Air with Jacques Emond (Sundays, 4 to 5:30 p.m.)
  • In a Mellow Tone with Ron Sweetman and guest hosts (Wednesdays, 9 to 11 p.m.)
  • Rabble Without a Cause with Bernard Stepien and other hosts (Wednesday, 11 p.m. to midnight)

Besides covering new releases and featuring jazz retrospectives, each of these shows also supports the local jazz scene; for example, by highlighting concerts and CDs by local artists, or recommending shows to see at the jazz festival. They're an important part of the local jazz ecosystem – and lots of fun to listen to.

Donors can allocate some or all of their money to one or more specific shows, and each show is expected by CKCU to raise a certain amount in donations. We heard on Sunday from Bernard that donations to Rabble Without A Cause are down in 2012 compared to this point in the 2011 campaign.

More information on how to donate is available at: https://www.ckcufm.com/secure/pledge/

Want to have the most impact? Fill in the form during a show, and then phone in to 613-520-2528 to inform the on-air host(s), and they will acknowledge you on-air (and you will make them very happy).
