Sometimes stripped-down is the best.

Guitarist Roddy Ellias and double bassist John Geggie have known each other for decades and performed together many times in diverse groups. Each has organized concert series and invited the other to play in it. At an Ellias ensemble concert in 2013, the two played a duet which our reviewer described as the strongest number of the evening.

Most recently, the two teamed up with Jane Bunnett and Jesse Stewart for two powerful concerts at GigSpace in February.

This Saturday, it will be just the two of them, for an acoustic duo concert at GigSpace. They'll play well known standards, lesser known standards, and originals by both of them, and by local young bassist/composer Ben Heard.

With two musicians who know each other so well, expect lots of melody and complicated textures, and lots of simpatico.
