The Ottawa Jazz Orchestra, directed by Adrian Cho, delves deeply into the jazz tradition each year, presenting themed concerts at the National Arts Centre that draw their music from influential jazz composers. Last December, the composer was bebop great Charlie Parker: the OJO's "Bird in the Reeds" concert featured the challenging arrangements of Parker's music written by Los Angeles composer Med Flory for his Supersax group. The instrumentation was five saxes plus rhythm section.
