For years, jazz and poetry have romanced one another. Writers and (particularly) speakers of poetry have found in the varied sounds of Jazz a willing and complimentary partner for the exploration and expression of human life.
On March 30, poetry and jazz will once again share beautiful space, as Ottawa's eminent young jazz vocalist Renée Yoxon and the versatile piano stylings of Mark Ferguson will provide the jazz, while nationally recognized spoken word artist Brandon Wint will deliver a stirring performance of his original poetic work.
In December of 2012, Mark and Renee collaborated on Renée's second album Here We Go Again. Renée's confidence as a vocalist and song writer is delightfully clear throughout the CD, while Mark's versatility and creativity creates a dynamic and nuanced foundation, from which Yoxon is able to shine.
