JazzWorks Canada has generously donated a pair of tickets (a $40 value) to Originals: a JazzWorks Showcase at the NAC Fourth Stage on Tuesday, May 17 at 7:30 p.m.
Local jazz lovers and supporters are in for an evening of fine music at Originals: A JazzWorks Showcase. Each summer, as part of its intensive Summer Jazz Workshop, Ottawa JazzWorks holds a Composers' Symposium to help participating singers and instrumentalists develop their musical compositions in collaboration with a faculty of professional jazz musicians from Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, and New York. Some of these innovative tunes will be presented in concert on May 17th at the NAC’s Fourth Stage.
"Originals: A JazzWorks Showcase" features some of the most exceptional compositions from the workshops, performed by the composers and other local musicians in collaboration with Ottawa bassist and JazzWorks Artistic Director, John Geggie and four highly accomplished members of the JazzWorks faculty: pianist Dave Restivo, trumpet player Jim Lewis and vocalist Christine Duncan, all from Toronto; and saxophonist Frank Lozano, from Montreal.
Good luck to all participants! And don't miss “Originals: a JazzWorks Showcase” on Tuesday May 17 even if you don't win.

You could win a pair of tickets to hear A Rat Pack Kinda night (Une Soirée Rat Pack) with Michael Pytura at Les Brasseurs du Temps on Tuesday, November 25 at 7:30 p.m. (19h30). Two pairs of tickets have been generously donated by Michael Pytura.
Last fall he entertained hundreds of people at Make-a-Wish Canada's annual gala with his singing tribute to the Rat Pack group of singers including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr. Their appeal to him was “both from a musical point of view but even just from the type of humour they bring to the table”.
He returns this year with a more intimate performance at BDT to perform some classic favourites. He'll be joined by some of Ottawa's solidly swinging jazz musicians: pianist Ian Clyne, saxophnist Mike Tremblay, bassist Martin Newman and drummer Jeff Asselin.
The deadline to enter the contest to win these two tickets is Monday, November, 24, 2014 at 1 p.m.. To enter, simply email
